Between 1871and 1990, the Germany economy was successful to a substantial degree. In this long period it is evident that the post-war era from 1945-1960 sustained the most progress – ensuring the economy was indeed a success The key central axis to the success of the German economy from 1871-1990 was Marshall Aid – which provided West Germany with huge financial benefits – receiving 2 billion from the United States. However, other time periods were also fundamental to influencing the success or failure of the economy, for example the Weimar, the Nazi and the Kaisereich – all affecting the economy to some extent. Overall, the German economy was successful industrially to a large extent, while also being successful in terms of employment to a fairly reasonable degree
