3 Pages Essays / Projects Year Uploaded: 2024

After the March Revolution in 1917, an event that led to the overthrowing the imperial government and subsequently the removal of Tsar Nicholas II, the Provisional government was left to answer for the ruling of Russia. Their main goal among many others was to create, or at least start the creation of an elected Constituent Assembly, in which they were highly successful. Despite this, the Provisional Government struggled to deal with challenges linked to the extent of the authority, which largely helped the Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky, to organise the 2nd revolution of that year – the October Revolution. Although this revolution could be largely credited to the Bolsheviks playing on the weakness of the PG, some credit could still be given to the time scale in which the revolutions occurred, and the influence the First World War may have had on the outcome of both revolutions.
