Pulpectomy is a procedure of removing irreversible inflamed or necrotic radicular pulp tissue, cleaning the root canal system and obturate with resorbable material. It is a treatment option for clinical diagnosed irreversible pulpitis or necrotic radicular pulp with evidence of infection such as abscess or presence of sinus tract. Pulpectomy is able to prevent the premature loss of primary teeth in which causing loss of arch length, insufficient space for erupting permanent teeth, and eventually causing impaction of premolars and mesial tipping of molar teeth adjacent to the lost primary molar. This quality makes pulpectomy a more favourable alternative when compare to extraction when the involved tooth is a deciduous tooth which is far from their shedding time, or a tooth with pathologic condition only involve one of the roots in molar teeth.
