The problem was to determine the wavelength of laser beam by using the diffraction grating concept and assuming that the wavelength of laser beam differs with the number of diffraction grating lines per unit length. In this experiment, our goal was to measure the numerical value for the wavelength of the laser beam, πœ†, so as to be able to determine the variables that affect the value of πœ†. We used objects such as a paper as a screen by supporting it at a vertical wall for the laser to diffracts through the grating. Starting to apply the grating value from a smaller number to a greater value meant the laser beam will formed a larger spacing of distance between spots with the increase of the number of grating, 𝑁. We built the experiment model as shown in Figure 2 (procedure section). The laser beam and the grating attached perpendicularly to a retort stand were used to study the distance or spaces between the spots caused by different value of grating. Since the distance, 𝐷 is constant, the spacing between the spots would be greater if greater grating with number of 𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠 π‘π‘’π‘Ÿ π‘šπ‘š is applied.
