Permaculture - The Missing Link
11307 - Special project elective- permaculture
6 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year: Pre-2021
The last few centuries has seen the development of many hopeful communities develop in an attempt to reject the workings of mass society and create their own utopia. However I t is too often that, even with the best of intentions, these communities do not develop enough to become stable and long lasting. The root of a community’s ability to sustain itself is the balance of the core areas of social, economic, and environmental design, but these issues are far more deep that initially realised. Upon analysis it has become explicitly apparent that the basis of a successful community is the people’s systems at work, since if these are unsuccessful the community will not survive no matter how strong the ethos or great the economy. It is the people systems which provide both the health of the individual and that of the community. The main downfall is interpersonal issues amongst the community members. So how do we achieve interpersonal stability? Permaculture offers us solutions, by allowing us to analyse the importance of individual elements within a system, which is the essence of community.
