Exponential decay is a mathematical function expressed as 𝑓(π‘₯) = π‘˜ Γ— π‘Žπ‘›. However, this foundation expression is adaptable in accordance with the relevant problem being investigated. When a quantity increases or decreases by a fixed percentage each time period, the quantity can be described using an exponential function. Within exponential functions, there are growth and decay functions, each exhibit a different interpretation of a dataset. For example, in relevance to the equation above, growth is present if π‘Ž > 1, whereas a decay function is present when 0 < π‘Ž < 1. The focus of this investigation will be on decay functions.
