As individuals we are all born with unique qualities that attribute to different taste preferences and food consumption. Fungiform papillae (FP) are essentially taste buds that reside on the tip of the tongue and Propylthiouracil (PROP)is a chemical substance that can either be bitter or tasteless. These variables are used to measure the relationship and correlations of density and sensitivity to bitterness in relation to gender and food preferences. This study aims to produce results that replicate previous research findings that individuals vary in taste and therefore their food choices relates with one’s preference and intensity of certain foods. Results indicated that there was no significant difference in FP density for gender as previously thought, but there was a significance difference between gender and beer preference.
