The practical aspects of the course will be carried out in a simulation clinic, a dental technical laboratory and in a dental clinic. In the Removable Prosthodontic component, by way of lectures and practical sessions, the key topics and the clinical and laboratory steps in providing a removable partial denture for a patient will be covered. The materials science section will include some basic materials science background relevant to Dentistry and, in particular, to this component. The advanced Restorative Dentistry component will build on the extensive knowledge and skills attained during the DOH241 subject. This component will emphasize the use of composite resin in posterior teeth and its use in large restorations in anterior teeth. Lectures will support and amplify the practical work.
