Crime Topic Defences Crime Essay (15 marks) Defences to a criminal offence is a method in which protects the offender from receiving the full punishment. However these defences in achieving justice in the criminal trial process is only effective to a certain extent. The defences include both complete defences such as being mentally impaired or killing an individual in self-defence. Partial defences, is where the offender is provoked by the victim into taking their life. Both defences are both effective and ineffective in achieving justice in the criminal trial process.
